Movie begins at 7:30pm
On Monday, December 13, 2010 there will be snow falling on Peachtree Street from the marquee of The Fabulous Fox Theatre! There will be caroling in the Fox’s arcade, photos with Santa and hot apple cider.
Not to mention a Sing-Along with the famous “Mighty Mo” organ, led by organist in residence Larry-Douglas Embury and joined by the Gwinnett Young Singers, the Fox Theatre Rising Stars, and our emcee for the evening, Joe Gransden.
This will be followed by a showing of the hilarious holiday film “Elf.”
The evening will be capped off by an organ concert, with Larry-Douglas Embury, once again joined by Joe Gransden and the Fox Theatre Rising Stars.
Limited Tickets are available at the Fox Theatre Box Office, or at ticketmaster.com (Tickets through ticketmaster.com will incur the applicable service charges) beginning at 10am on Monday, November 8, 2010.
The Fox Theatre will be accepting donations for both Toys-For-Tots and the Atlanta Community Food Bank that evening.

The Holiday Ice Spectacular Puts a New Twist on Chanukah
Adam Sandler sings praise for “If Santa Claus Was Jewish” Number
Chanukah has come and gone, but Atlanta gets to celebrate a little longer with the release of The Holiday Ice Spectacular’s “If Santa Claus Was Jewish.” This never-before-heard holiday song was written by Atlanta native Jeb Rand exclusively for the holiday revue, running December 16-24 at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Center.
Picture Mel Brooks, Joan Rivers and Adam Sandler sitting with a bottle of Manischewitz and you’ve got the creative inspiration to the number, which according to Mr. Sandler himself, is one “the audiences will love and have a lot of fun with too.” Sandler recently previewed the song for possible use in future projects and after hearing it, declared it to be one of the funniest things he had heard in years.

The Rink at Park Tavern Hosts Breakfast with Santa on Opening Day
Celebrate the Grand Opening of Atlanta’s New Ice Skating Rink with Santa and Mrs. Claus on Monday, November 22 at 8 a.m.

The Rink at Park Tavern, a new covered ice skating rink located in the heart of Midtown in Piedmont Park, will open to the public on Monday, November 22, 2010. To celebrate its arrival, Park Tavern is hosting a special Breakfast with Santa at The Rink from 8 to 10:30 a.m. that morning. For $10 kids can enjoy sweets from Santa’s bakery, cereal and fruit juices. Parents can bring a camera, but there will also be a professional photographer available to snap pictures with Santa. Park Tavern’s new homemade hot chocolate and new frozen hot chocolate will be available for purchase. Parents will also be able to purchase bagels, coffee and gourmet Danishes. Easyriders Events Bike Show Tour Nov 20
Easyriders Events have announced the Easyriders Events Bike Show Tour Dates for 2010 & 2011. The tour includes an event in Atlanta on Saturday, November 20th, 2010 with special guest host, Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top. The event is being held at Georgia World Congress Center and the event’s organizers are estimating over 20,000 guests to attend their Atlanta tour stop.
The Annual Easyriders Events Bike Show in Atlanta provides all ages of bike enthusiasts and fans with a record 250 plus custom bikes competing for over 55 plus awards which can be viewed on line at http://www.easyridersevents.com/
Easyriders Events Marketing and Entertainment Director, Tucker Kroll attributes the record breaking number of custom bike entries this year to their free space program which gives wristband holders an option to feature their custom bikes at the show for no charge.
The Annual Easyriders Events Bike Show in Atlanta will be photographed by world-famous motorcycle photographer Michael Lichter. Some of the world's top bike builders have joined this year's tour including Paul Yaffe, The Limpnickie Lot, and Kendall Johnson. The industries top manufacturing reps will be on hand showing off all of the industries new cutting edge products. All guests attending the show in Atlanta have a chance to win a Harley-Davidson Motorcycle and enjoy motorcycle stunt shows throughout the events.

Christmas in the Park, Olde Towne Morrow
The 4th Annual Christmas in the Park will be held from 2pm to 7pm on December 4, 2010 at Olde Towne Morrow (1063 Southlake Circle, Morrow, Ga. 30260), adjacent to Southlake Mall. The event will feature local churches, non-profit organizations and community businesses, all in festive form to kick off the holiday season. There will be delicious food and beverages. November is Long Term Care Awareness Month. The Carnegie invites you to bring your lunch and join us as Joel Sworney presents “What’s Your Plan: Alzheimer’s Awareness and Long Tem Care”. This informational program will provide education and advice on planning for Long Term Care.
Joel’s background is in Engineering but became committed to long term care insurance after the illnesses of several relatives. He has been a regional and national speaker about Long Term Care and has served on Georgia’s panel of experts concerning Long Term Care issues. Joel resides in Newnan with his wife and two children.
Come to The Carnegie for an informative seminar with local financial advisor Sam Madaris Jr. In “Retirement Has Changed, What’s Your Next Move?” you will learn how to organize and record your financial assets, set realistic goals for retirement spending, determine if you’re on track to reach your goals and what to do if you aren’t. This program will be Monday, November 15 at 10 A.M. Refreshments will be served.
Sam is a Newnan native who has over 20 years of financial planning, financial management, and executive management experience of Fortune 500 companies in the financial, technology, production, telecommunications, professional services consulting, program management, and healthcare industries.

The building served as a library until 1987 when a new facility was constructed on Hospital Road. The Carnegie was funded by the city of Newnan’s General Fund and partly by 2007 Special Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST). The Carnegie’s cost to be renovated was over $1.5 million dollars to the city. Holiday Squeals Return! Priscilla - The Pink Pig Grand Opening at Macy’s
The Atlanta Tradition Continues at Macy’s Lenox Square!
Priscilla The Pink Pig, one of Atlanta’s most beloved holiday traditions, celebrates her 57th Grand Opening on Saturday, October 30th. The 2010 Macy’s Pink Pig Grand Opening will mark the start of the holiday season much to the delight of children of all ages!
The Pink Pig will once again carry on the family tradition beneath a 170-foot, 1950’s themed Pink Pig Tent. True to tradition, a portion of the proceeds from each ride will benefit Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.
On the Grand Opening day, the first 500 people riding the iconic ride will receive a complimentary Pink Pig commemorative tote bag. Also, any child wearing their Halloween costume to the grand opening will receive their first ride free!
The ride will officially open to the public on Saturday, October 30th and will be open through January 2, 2011. Each ride costs $3 and repeat rides have a special discounted price (2 rides for $5.50, 3 rides for $7.50). Hours for the ride are as follows:

Priscilla – the original Pink Pig – began as a monorail along the ceiling of Rich’s, giving children the experience of “flying over” the toy department. Later, another pig – Percival – was added and they became known as the Pink Pig monorail twins. Years later, the monorail was relocated to the roof of the department store and the “monorail twins” took passengers on rooftop rides viewing downtown Atlanta and circling the Great Tree.
In 2003, Priscilla, the Pink Pig was re-introduced to a new generation of Atlantans. Since then, she has been back on track underneath a giant Pink Pig Tent at the Lenox Square Mall upper-level parking deck near Macy’s. Atlanta’s most “pink-tacular” train ride travels along train tracks to carry children and parents through a life-sized storybook that includes the original Pink Pig and other holiday friends. Once again, a portion of the proceeds from each ride will benefit the Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. To date, Macy’s has donated more than $335,000 to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.

This winter, you’re invited to a seasonal show-stopper like no other with world-class skaters and entertainers setting the ice on fire at The Holiday Ice Spectacular. Join the colorful cast as they create a glittering world of holiday cheer December 16-24 and let the quick-witted humor and dazzling performances captivate as these outstanding athletes take to the ice-covered stage at Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre.
Henry, a charming, yet mischievous elf has decided (against orders) to let the audience experience the wonder of the North Pole. He and his wife will keep you roaring in your seats with their adult-friendly comic relief peppered throughout the show. You’ll see everything from a Hannukah celebration to an intricate line dance performed on skates. Humorous vignettes, a 12-minute bite of The Nutcracker and flawless skating filled with awe-inspiring catches and gravity-defying leaps will keep you entranced throughout the entire production.

Fernbank Museum Announces Dinosaur Sideshow Filled with Novelties, Activities and More!
Fernbank Museum embraces the quirky atmosphere of carnivals and celebrates the world’s long fascination with dinosaurs with its Dinosaur Sideshow, a special programming weekend offered October 23-34, 2010. Featuring dinosaur illustrators, sculptors, authors and comic book publishers, Fernbank’s Dinosaur Sideshow reveals the many ways these prehistoric “real-life giants” have captured imaginations and shaped folklore.

A Guide to Understanding the Times, Biology and Appearance of Dinosaurs Great and Small

Scientist, author and paleoartist Gregory S. Paul’s new book, The Princeton Field Guide to Dinosaurs, covers the explosion in dinosaur research and illustration that started in the 1970s. See how the scientific renaissance and the "new look" in art replaced the traditional view of dinosaurs as obsolete reptiles, and how this led to new insights--including that birds are the descendents of dinosaurs. A book signing will immediately follow (books will be available for purchase in the Museum Store).
All Dinosaur Side Show programming is free for members and included with Museum admission, except where noted (such as the caricature drawings, which are a separate cost). Tickets are $15 for adults, $14 for students and seniors, $13 for children ages 12 to 3, free for children 2 and younger, and free for Fernbank members.

Among the variety of programs, Fernbank’s Dinosaur Sideshow will entertain with dinosaur-related carnival games, photo opportunities, caricatures, activities, presentations and discussions that embrace the many incarnations of dinosaurs in pop culture.
