Walmart has partnered with Zoo Atlanta to offer $5 discounted admission on two Sundays this Fall. This 75 percent discount on the general admission price of $19.99 is a part of the company’s commitment to help metro Atlanta residents save money so they can live better.
Since 1981, when Walmart opened its first store in Georgia, the company has saved residents more than $10 billion.
One of the largest employers in the state, Walmart has 52,000 associates in Georgia.
Note: Visitors must mention “Walmart Sunday Fundays” to receive the discounted admission rate.

Tickets Still Available for JAZZOO 2010
Wildest night of the year includes cocktails, food, music and fun fashions
Tickets are still available for JAZZOO 2010, this Saturday, September 25 from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. at Zoo Atlanta. The event will feature kiosks from more than 30 of Atlanta’s best restaurants, specialty cocktails at full-service open bars, and animal viewing until dusk. Live entertainment will include music from 80s cover band The Breakfast Club; Eddie’s Attic Acoustic Stage; MudCat; Sound Investment; and Andrew Brothers Dueling Pianos.
New for 2010 is the opportunity to view and vote on fashions evoked by Zoo Atlanta animals, created by designers from the world’s most comprehensive art and design university. During spring quarter 2010, students from SCAD’s Introduction to Fashion Classes were instructed to design 3-D garments inspired by animals at the Zoo. The students visited the Zoo where they photographed and observed the animals in their habitat. Using unconventional materials, the garments that will be featured at JAZZOO were designed using a variety of materials: balloons, feathers, rope, coffee filters, paper maché, and aluminum cans. This project is a great example of how SCAD students are able to master design challenges in the most creative and fascinating ways.
JAZZOO is an event where whimsical, animal-inspired attire is the norm, with extra encouragement this year: the wearer of the best “creative cocktail” costume will win a cruise for two. SIXTHMAN has donated a room on THE ROCK BOAT cruise (Carnival Inspiration) hosted by Sister Hazel.
Proceeds of JAZZOO 2010 will support Zoo Atlanta’s access programs that provide admission and field trips to disadvantaged children and schools. All-inclusive tickets are available now on jazzooatlanta.org.

Super Heroes Converge on Zoo Atlanta
Meet Spider-Man™ and friends Labor Day Weekend
Even Super Heroes need a day at the Zoo. Spider-Man™, Wolverine™, Storm™ and Green Goblin™ combine their considerable powers during Super Heroes Weekend at Zoo Atlanta, September 5, 6 and 7. The classic Marvel Comics™ characters star in six performances of Operation Green™, a dynamic live-action show pitting Spider-Man and his cohorts against the dastardly Green Goblin in the fight to stop pollution and rescue the environment. Following each show, members of the audience will have an exclusive chance to meet the Super Heroes for photo opportunities and autographs.
Super Heroes Weekend also gives Zoo Atlanta an opportunity to showcase its own hero status as a champion of wildlife and conservation, with fun activities introducing young people to lifelong patterns of stewardship that begin at home in their own backyards. Opportunities will include face painting; storytelling with favorite costume characters; Super Hero crafts; games; keeper talks; and special animal encounters.
Tickets are $10 for Zoo Atlanta Members and children under 3; $24.99 for non-Member adults ages 12 and up; $20.99 for non-Member children ages 3 to 11. Children under 3 are $10. Infants under the age of 1 may sit in a parent’s lap and do not require a ticket. Tickets include admission to Operation Green, character meet-and-greet and all other Super Heroes Weekend activities.
