As the month of August heats up, there are only a few more weeks to cool down with this summer’s Sips in the City experience. Stop in now at participating restaurants in the Downtown Dining District for refreshing signature cocktails, happy hours and deals that won’t last long! With more than 20 restaurants participating, guests are sure to find a summer cocktail special that will leave them relaxed or ready for a night on the town.

Dantanna’s Downtown – Dantanna’s Wine Down Wednesdays feature half-priced bottles of wine, and the upscale sports lounge also offers a wide variety of beers, classic cocktails and specialty drinks.

Max Lager’s – Watch the ball game and toast to the home team with seven new cocktails! Drink prices range between $8 -$10 and are offered throughout the baseball season.

Thrive – From4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thrive makes summertime a little cooler with $5 cocktails and discounted bar bites. The full bar serves everything from high gravity beers to hand-crafted specialty mixes as well as wines, champagnes and sakes to stimulate your senses.

Ruth’s Chris Steak House – With a drink in hand andfriends gathered round, enjoy the Ruth’s Hour Prime Bites Menu, which features a half-priced bar menu Monday through Thursday from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.

STATS – Experience STATS’ unique beer tap that allows guests to pour their own beer with no server or bartender needed. Have a brew and catch a few games at this unique sports lounge.

The 32nd Annual Great Miller Lite Chili Cook-Off Returns to Stone Mountain

The 32nd annual Great Miller Lite Chili Cook-Off will once again be held in beautiful Stone Mountain, Ga., where more than 300 culinary teams from across the country battle for chili bragging rights. In addition to sampling chili, Brunswick stew and cornbread, guests of all ages are invited to enjoy live music from some of the nation’s best tribute bands and partake in games such as the Mullet Flop and the Jalapeno Eating contest. As in previous years, 100% of the proceeds will benefit Camp Twin Lakes, a network of camps providing life-changing experiences to thousands of Georgia children with serious illnesses, disabilities and challenges. Since 2005, the Great Miller Lite Chili Cook-Off has raised more than $380,000 for Camp Twin Lakes. Tickets are $10 for adults. Children 12 and under are free. Grammy Winner Shawn Colvin, Joe Purdy Join Callaway Gardens' Harvest Moon Festival Line-up

Act Soon - Early Bird Weekend Pass Price of $69 Ends August 31st; Overnight Accommodations are Filling Up

The Callaway Gardens Harvest Moon Festival is adding to its stellar musical lineup. Having already announced the likes of The B-52s, The Gin Blossoms and John Hiatt, the festival now includes multiple Grammy-winning Shawn Colvin.

Early Bird Weekend Passes for $69 will be available for purchase only through August 31. Beginning September 1, the price goes up to $79 for advance weekend passes. Gate price during the event will be $85. This family-friendly music festival October 6-9, 2011, also features celebrity chef Claire Robinson, host of the Food Network’s popular “5 Ingredient Fix.”

Shawn Colvin, who has won three Grammy Awards of an incredible ten nominations, is an iconic singer-songwriter who is perhaps most famous for her 1997 chart-topper “Sonny Came Home.” With this announcement of Colvin’s addition to the event, the Festival also is announcing the daily lineup. The Thursday evening Harvest Feast ($62 per person) will feature a cooking demonstration by Claire Robinson, followed by a double-bill of Atlanta musician Nic Cowan and popular recording artist Joe Purdy. Friday boasts some big names with The B-52s, Shawn Colvin, Parachute, Dread Clampitt and Allgood among the acts scheduled to appear. Saturday showcases the bulk of the musical lineup, with the Gin Blossoms, John Hiatt, Shawn Mullins, Big Head Todd and the Monsters, and Mat Kearney among the biggest names to appear on the festival’s two stages.
